About Melissa
Melissa Piccone has been part of the dotcom revolution since it began. As a result, she’s moved quickly and aggressively across the country and across learning curves---continuously grasping new techniques, new applications, and new technologies in every arena.
She attended Moore College of Art in Philadelphia. At San Jose State, she received a BS in Computers in Art and Design, Research and Education. At Alias (now Silicon Graphics) Melissa worked with 3-D software popular in Hollywood films and created computer games for Eidos. Check out her nationally referenced article comparing jpegs and gifs. (Available online at Melissa's webwitchery.com) In Boulder CO, Melissa created online communities for Paramount Digital Entertainment. She was an adjunct professor for the University of Denver and a Web Design instructor for Arapaho Community College.
She's also been known to teach ballroom dancing.
Melissa strives to 'see the big picture' and, therefore, designs, executes and teaches with purpose, using both sides of the brain.
Melissa founded Cyber Element, Inc. in 1998 and had a thriving web design company with clients such as Lucent, USA.Net, AmExmail, IT Jazz, NexSoft and Qwest Communications. In 2004 she switched gears and founded PhotoBookMemories, a digital scrapbooking company making custom photobooks for people and providing printing and books for the digital scrapbooking community. She sold Photobook memories in 2009 when she moved to Leesburg, VA and re-connected with her true love, teaching.
She is now an Adobe Certified Instructor working as an independent contractor for herself and several companies in the DC metro area teaching a variety of classes and loving it.
