Hosting Information for Clients

The following is some information to make sure you get the most out of your hosting experience with Cyber Element, Inc. Our services include access to your email from any web browser anywhere in the in the world, 24/7. We also feature a powerful control panel that allows you access to your statistics, control over your email accounts and much more.

To access your control panel, type in: http://www.yourdomain.com/cpanel
You will be prompted for your username and password. Please contact us if you don't have this information: cpanel_info @ cyberelement.com

You will see some general information on the left and icons with a name on the right. The icons you are most interested in mail and web/ftp stats.

Mail

In the mail section you can add and delete email accounts, set up autoresponders, view your mail online, set up forwarders and create mailing lists. There is also a program called Spam Assassin to help combat spam. We do not support it, but you are free to try it out. There is a website with more information when you click on the link. This is a powerful tool and it's very easy to inadvertently block wanted email along with the spam.

WebMail
To access your webmail without the cpanel, simply type in http://www.yourdomain.com/webmail
You will be prompted for your username and password. Your username is will look something like this:
name+yourdomain.com. All email accounts for your domain can be accessed in this way.

Add/Remove Accounts
You can add email accounts for your employees, spouse, etc. You can also delete them if they become obsolete.

Default Account
You can set up a default account to receive all email sent to your domain that is not routed directly to an existing email account. So, if someone misspells your email, it will go to the account specified. If you have problems with spam, we highly recommend that you point the default to blackhole. Your current default account most likely is not your main email account

Forwarders
A forward will send email from one account to another. For example, if your ISP is MSN or AOL, you must forward your email to your main email account. Those companies will not allow you to "pop" another account.

You can also use a forward to create multiple emails for your domain. For example, you can have you@yourdomain.com, info@yourdomain.com, marketing@yourdomain.com, etc. Generic email addresses such as support and info tend to be spam magnets. Be creative!

Autoresponders
Autoresponders send an email back to someone immediately notifying them that you have received their message. It can contain a message that you are out of town or unavailable or whatever.

Mailing Lists
This mailing list allows all users to communicate using one email address. Users can subscribe and unsubscribe themselves.

Website Statistics

Web/FTP Stats contains several programs for view activity on your site. Awstats are visually appealing and easy to read. You can choose a month to view activity and see the summary at the top of the page.

Unique Visitors and Number of Visits are the 2 most important numbers. It shows new people and repeat visitors. The higher the values, the better.

Scroll down to Robots/Spiders. These are the search engines visiting your site. Hits are the number of times they have been there in the month, last visit is the last time they visited. The more spiders listed the better, as well as the number of hits. If Googlebot is not listed on your site, you need to call us! We can increase these stats for you.

Visits Duration shows you how long a user spends on your site. The longer, the better.

Pages - URL shows you where users enter and exit and what pages they are looking at within your site.

Continue scrolling to Connect to Site From. This information is very important. You will see how people are finding your site. The URLs listed here are sites that contain a link to your site. Follow these links and check them out. We can help you improve these numbers. You can improve your links from external pages by forming relationships with other site and getting your site linked.

The next section, Search Keywords and Search Keyphrases are extremely important. These words and phrases should reflect your site and what it's about. People are hitting your site based on this information. If it looks a little off or sparse, we can help with our Search Engine Optimization package.

And, finally, under Miscellaneous, you can see if anyone bookmarked your page for later.
